False Awakenings is a live audiovisual performance by Pandelis Diamantides that unfolds as an immersive post-digital sonic environment shaped through the real-time manipulation of sound synthesis parameters. Sound is continuously transformed and deconstructed through a complex network of algorithms and digital signal processing systems, where diverse musical forms and textures are introduced, fragmented, and reconfigured.
Combining abstract rhythmic structures, evolving ambient landscapes, and intricate sound design, False Awakeningsexplores the relationship between time, motion, and memory. Generative sonic processes provide the framework for a visual interpretation of temporal experience, while disorder becomes a creative force in the construction of an immersive audiovisual world—a dynamic interplay of bass, light, and colour.
Premiered in 2015 at the FIBER Festival in Amsterdam, False Awakenings is one of Diamantides' early large-scale audiovisual works and forms part of a broader body of immersive media art presented internationally at festivals, museums, and digital arts events.
